Next ENB Meeting - Thursday 20th November

November 12th, 2008

This month’s ENB meeting will be taking place on Thursday 20th November at the Hotel Casanova, Gran Via 559 (corner with Casanova).

The schedule will be as follows:

19.30h  Seminar

21.00h  Social meet  (no need to register, just come along)

ENB Seminar - An Evening with three leading Barcelona Listings Magazines

We are delighted to announce that this month’s ENB meeting will start with talks from three of Barcelona’s leading listings magazines.

Presenting will be:

Richard Schweid, founder and senior editor of Barcelona-Metropolitan

Michael Mueller, founder of MiniGuide

Robert Craig, founder and senior editor of Guideout

Richard, Michael and Robert will be talking about their experience as entrepreneurs and founders of successful listing guides in Catalunya.

We foresee this being a popular evening, so if you would like one of the 30 places, please email us at info@networkbarcelona.com and we will add you to the list.

The talks will run from 19.30h to 21.00h and will take place in one of the conference rooms at the Hotel Casanova, C/Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, 559.

We ask that all those attending arrive on time, preferably at 19.15h to be sure that we can run the talks to schedule.

ENB Social Meet

Following the talks will be our usual Social Meet starting at 21.00h in the hotel bar.

This month we will be returning to the 2-minute open mic sessions for members to promote their businesses.

Although only two minutes, this is the ideal opportunity for members, old and new, to actively promote their business, make themselves known within the network as well as to gain some practice in pitching. We will be calling on members attending to present, so please come prepared!

As always, we would like to thank the Hotel Rafael Casanova for their support in the arrangement of our monthly meetings.

We look forward to seeing you there!

ENB Spectrum Group put on hold

November 10th, 2008

For those of you who were keen to see the launch of the ENB Spectrum Group next year, we have had to put the plans on hold for the foreseeable future.  The Idea was the brainchild of Robert Craig who as you know by now has stepped down from the board. It would be a major challenge for us to drive this exciting new directive forward without Robert’s energy. We wish Robert every success in his future endeavours.

ENB will continue in its usual format with the next meeting taking place next Thursday 20th November. Our focus will remain to provide a network for the members and foster the spirit of helping other members grow their businesses through support networks, seminars, workshops, social events and good old fashioned networking.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting.

Regards  ENB Team

ENB Working with Pompeu Fabra and USA Exchange students

October 16th, 2008

As a result of the ENB Round Table meeting, we will be working with ENB member Jeaninne Horowitz and her students from the Entrepreneurship courses she runs at the Pompeu Fabra University and a USA Student Exchange Programme.

ENB and their members will be set as a case study and students will be contacting ENB members to carry out an interview about them, their businesses and experience as an Entrepreneur.

The interviews will either take place over the telephone, via email or in person at your offices. There will also be 20 students attending the next social meeting on the 16th of October to carry out brief face-to-face interviews.

We believe this to be a very positive and effective way of not only finding out more information about our members, their companies, their needs and reasons for their involvement with ENB, but also great coverage for those companies approached.

We therefore ask that all members please be willing to take part in the interviews if contacted - it will be of benefit to all of us!

In addition some ENB members will be speaking to students at the Pompeu Fabra about their own experiences as Entrepreneurs.

This week saw ENB members Scott Doane from Vision 33 and Lucy Davis and DAP Creative talking to students about their companies and experiences as Entrepreneurs both in the UK and in Barcelona. The sessions were great fun with students asking lots of questions about what it takes to start a company, the problems encountered, the advantages and disadvantages of being self-employed and funding opportunities. Scott and Lucy also discussed with them some of the ideas the students had for their projects/case studies that they are currently working on.

Scott and Lucy also talked to students about ENB, who we are and what we do. The students were very curious as to the types of businesses envolved and were excited to hear about the benefits of effective networking.

Next week Clare Doane from Barcelona Wedding will also be visiting the students.

ENB look to continue working with the Pompeu Fabra students in the future and will look to other ENB members to also get involved.
